Who would be the audience for your media product? How did you attract/address your audience?

Whilst doing our research we looked in to the target audience of Mean Girls and Wild Child, as well as Clueless and Brats. We found that all of these films were targeted mainly at teenage girls between 12-22. All of these films were certificate 12, which reinforced that the film was made to be targeted for this age group and above. Whilst doing our research we also looked at the marketing mechanisms used to promote and distribute the film.  Wild Child hosted a competition which the teenagers could enter with a chance of winning a 'Wild Child Goodie Bag'. This suggested that the way the film was marketed was by targeting the audience in ways in which their suited audience would interact- in a 'childish' way.  With Wild Child, they did not use social networking sites to market and interact with their fans, so if we were to market our film we would use social networking sites as we know that this is a successful, as well as a free way of making a 'event' over our product.

Additionally, whilst showing our opening sequence to our chosen target audience, we found that from the reactions that they enjoyed the use of costume, as it was clothes they would wear or could see themselves wearing. They could relate or be inspired by a particular character as each character was a exaggerated stereotype.  The audience were teenagers who are likely to be in school, which makes the location of the school relatable to them. The plot to get 'revenge' on a cheating ex boyfriend may excite the audience and make them relate or imagine themselves doing this.

From the audience feedback, the feedback suggested that our film was very similar to High School Musical and Mean Girls. This may have been interpreted by them due to the Varsity Style title font, or the location of the bedroom and school.
